Weekend Events: Getting in the holiday spirit

Posted

Turkey day is just around the corner, but it feels more like Christmas in Milwaukee. Here are some events to get you in the holiday spirit this weekend:

Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival

The lights switched on Thursday night to illuminate downtown Milwaukee with reindeer and gingerbread men (and women). Holiday light displays are now at Cathedral Square Park, Zeidler Union Square, Pere Marquette Park and Burns Commons. You can even take a $2 "Jingle Bus" ride to see them all.

Christkindlmarket Milwaukee

Fiserv Forum is hosting this German holiday market Nov. 17-Dec. 31. Pick up a unique Christmas gift for a loved one, or some sweet treats for yourself. You deserve it.

Napoleon Dynamite at the Riverside Theater

"Tina, you fat lard come get some dinner." Napoleon Dynamite is playing at the Riverside Theater Friday at 8 p.m. After the movie, you can catch a conversation with some of the actors from the original film. Jon Hader who played Napoleon Dynamite, Efren Ramirez, "Pedro," and Tina Majorino, "Deb" will be there.

Rock of Ages Tenth Anniversary Tour

Rock of Ages has been called "Broadway's Best Party." The '80s rock show is at the Miller High Life Theatre Friday at 7 p.m.

Other Holiday Happenings

Some local spots have officially decked the halls! "A Grand Avenue Christmas" is on display at the Pabst Mansion Friday through the first week of January. After that, you can jingle on over to the Milwaukee Public Museum's Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit. The display starts Saturday and runs through Jan. 22.
