GREENFIELD — If you know someone who has long hair, now may be the perfect time for a style change.
Heads Up Salon in Greenfield is hoping those with long locks will donate their hair to a non-profit organization.
Locks of Love provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
This is the first time the salon is hosting an afternoon dedicated to benefiting Locks of Love. Heads Up stylists have donated their time and anyone with 10” of hair or longer is invited to come for a free cut and style so long as they complete the form donating their hair to Locks of Love.
The event is taking place at:
Heads Up Salon, “Locks of Love Fest”
Saturday, April 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
6019 W. Layton Ave. in Greenfield (right off of 894)
Hair Restrictions:
o Must be a minimum of 10” and be cut in a ponytail
o Colored and/or permed hair is acceptable so long as it HAS NOT been bleached
o Gray hair can also be accepted – it is sold to help offset the manufacturing cost of making the wig
o For a full list of guidelines, I encourage you to check out the Locks of Love website
Six to Ten ponytails go into making one headpiece. The salon’s goal for the day is to collect 20 ponytails.
