JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Not sure this is what the manufacturers of the Smart Car had in mind, but drastic times call for drastic measures. A Florida man parked his very compact car in his kitchen ahead of Hurricane Dorian's Category 2 wind and rain because he was "afraid his car might blow away."
By the looks of the photo that Jessica Eldridge posted on Facebook, her husband Patrick transformed their kitchen into a garage for a few days. Eldridge was fast to point out that her car did not receive the same treatment. Hers stayed in the garage for the major storm.
The Jacksonville couple was preparing for possible damage from Dorian's 105 mph winds as it moved up the Atlantic coast Wednesday.
Hurricane Dorian decimated the Bahamas this week, with new reports saying at least 30 people have died. Death tolls are expected to rise considerablyin the coming days.
