While temperatures are in the upper 40s to start Friday in metro Detroit, the upper peninsula is experiencing an early winter.

According to the National Weather Service, snow started falling in Negaunee Township around 4:15 a.m. Neguanee Township is just east of Marquette.

Jennae Ellis, a viewer of TODAY'S TMJ4's sister station WXYZ-TV, sent in a photo this morning of snow on her car.

The National Weather Service said a slushy inch or two of snow accumulation may occur in higher terrain in parts of the west and north-central UP this morning.
