MILWAUKEE -- Ever wonder what Northridge Mall looks like after all these years? A popular YouTube personality is giving viewers a glimpse of just that in a video published this week.
Casey Neistat, who boasts more than eight million YouTube subscribers, traveled to Milwaukee recently to scout locations for a holiday movie he's shooting. Specifically, he needed a "big, open space." That's where Northridge Mall came in.
Though the mall has been closed for 14 years, Neistat gained access for his shoot and gave viewers some amazing views of what the abandoned complex looks like now, skateboarding through abandoned walkways and discovering an old floppy disk.
Neistat and his crew only spent a few minutes inside the mall during their scouting visit, but say in the video they intend to return to film more of their holiday project.
Northridge Mall opened in 1972 with 800,000 square feet of retail space. It closed in 2003.
