FOX LAKE, Wis. — A Milwaukee woman has been sentenced to six months in jail after delivering illegal items to an inmate.
Sophia Marie Guarnero, 36, allegedly brought the following contraband to the Fox Lake Correctional Institute in Dodge County on Nov. 17, 2018: chicken, waffles, syrup and marijuana.
The correctional institute staff had monitored a call between Guarnero and an inmate and heard her say she was going to bring chicken and waffles. They suspected she would also bring illegal drugs.
Upon her arrival, security staff and a Dodge County Sheriff's Office deputy met with Guarnero. She showed signs of nervousness, according to the complaint. They told her they had been monitoring phone calls and knew she had brought contraband into the institution. Guarnero repeatedly said she didn't know what they were talking about.
After security staff mentioned the chicken and waffles, Guarnero pulled out two plastic bags with chicken, waffles and syrup. She eventually revealed that she also had brought 63.5 grams of marijuana.
Guarnero was sent to the Dodge County Detention Facility and charged with one count of attempted delivery of an article to an inmate and one count of delivering THC, a felony charge. She was found guilty of the charges on Friday.
