Ace Smith said he still struggles after witnessing the road-rage shooting that left a woman dead Friday.

Milwaukee Police said the shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. after the suspect’s car hit the victim’s car near 51st and Capitol. Police said the woman confronted the would-be assailant before the shot was fired.

“I saw the young lady standing in traffic arguing with a man in the van. Before you know it, one shot. It sounded like a firecracker,” Smith said.

Smith said as he ran up to the scene, the woman’s son ran up as well.

“Turns out she was teaching him how to drive,” Smith said.

Shortly after, the intersection was bound in a web of tape as officers began the search for clues. Smith, the victim’s son and another witness helped get the woman to the hospital.

“We made it there. Six minutes [before she passed] … not even,” Smith said.

Smith told TODAY’S TMJ4 he saw the suspect leave the scene in a gold Chevorlet and has questions for the person he said he saw pull the trigger.

“How can you look at another woman knowing you just took out somebody’s mama?” Smith said.

At this time, Milwaukee Police have no one in custody and urges anyone with information to come forward.
