Wisconsin proved its title as the Dairy State at the World Cheese Awards in Bergen, Norway.

The state took home 24 awards including a 'Major Winner' award in the 'Best Vintage Cheddar' category.

Winning companies include Roth Cheese at seven awards, Sartori Cheese with six awards, Carr Valley Cheese with four awards, Marieke Gouda with three awards, Deer Creek Cheese with two awards, V&V Supremo Foods, Inc. with one award and Ponderosa Dairy Products with one award. Deer Creek's Imperial Buck received the 'Major Winner' award.

Wisconsin cheeses win more national and international awards than any other state or country. This year proved no different with the state winning about a quarter of the total awards given to the United States.

"This year’s competition was a true celebration of the outstanding community of dairy producers and cheesemakers that thrive in Wisconsin,” says Suzanne Fanning, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin SVP and Chief Marketing Officer. “We are so thrilled to celebrate their success and see our industry recognized on the world stage.”

This year was the 30th World Cheese Awards. The competition received a record-breaking 3,500 entries from all over the world.
