MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin's public school system is among the best in the nation, according to a new report that examined both school quality and safety across all 50 states.
Wisconsin placed #8 overall in the report from WalletHub. The Badger State is the second-best Midwest state on the list, coming in just behind Minnesota (#7). Wisconsin received high marks for school quality (5th), while school safety (24th) dragged down its overall ranking slightly.
Within the two main indicators of 'quality' and 'safety,' WalletHub says it examined 33 factors for its methodology - including drop out rate, test scores, bullying and youth incarceration rates, as well as having plans for the COVID-19 pandemic. Data used includes numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Department of Education, and others.
Massachusetts easily was ranked best overall in the U.S. - it scored 1st in both Safety and Quality. New Mexico was ranked lowest overall.
