MONTFORT, Wis. - Three years after being shot in the head by his mother, an 11-year-old Wisconsin boy has returned home from therapy.

On January 2, 2015, Morgan Slaight shot her sons, Joey and Jaxon, in the head before shooting herself. Emergency officials rushed Morgan and Joey to the hospital -- but Morgan died later from her injuries. Her son, Jaxon, died at the scene.

WISC-TV reports Joey lived in a brain rehabilitation facility following the incident. After significant recovery, he was ready to go home. On Saturday, organizers of Joey's Facebook page Joey Strong posted the wonderful news.

Joey is starting from scratch in his new home. Family members pulled together through his journey. They started a GoFundMe to help with some costs that insurance doesn't cover. Joey needs some special equipment as well as clothes and toys.

The family is thankful for the recovery and grateful for any donations anyone is willing to give to assist with some of Joey's costs as he transitions home. To donate, click HERE.
