ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A Wisconsin resident was arrested after police said he caused a disturbance on a flight that prompted an emergency landing.

KOB-TV said that Mason Alioto, a Wind Lake resident, became disruptive on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Chicago. A complaint filed by the Albuquerque Police Department said that when an officer boarded the plane and asked Alioto to exit the plane, he became combative and used profanity. Alioto had to be restrained.

Police said Alioto was transported to a holding cell and began spitting at officers. He was subsequently arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Alioto plead not guilty in court, was released on personal recognizance and allowed to return to Wisconsin.

Alioto has to check in with pretrial supervision weekly to ensure he is complying with another case happening in Wisconsin, which includes alcohol and drug testing. He must return to New Mexico for his trial on Feb. 18.
