WHITEFISH BAY — The Whitefish Bay Police Department is working to determine the circumstances behind the presence of a sex offender at a local park.
Police say that 60-year-old David Pitel was arrested in the Klode Park parking lot last week, after a woman going for a walk contacted police about a man being suspicious.
The woman said that she witnessed Pitel sitting in his vehicle without a shirt for the last several days. After memorizing his license plate, investigators discovered that the vehicle belonged to the man, a registered sex offender and Whitefish Bay resident.
Pitel was found guilty of Possession of Child Pornography in 2011 and sentenced to probation. He was arrested by the Whitefish Bay Police Department for being in a "Child Safety Zone" as a sex offender on September 13.
He is currently being held at the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility.
