A boy scout made an explosive find in a donation box in West Bend, a World War II hand grenade.
The boy first thought it was a toy but luckily he didn't pull the pin. The Milwaukee Police Department's bomb squad rushed to West Bend, confiscated the grenade, and said they will disposing of it safely.
"It was like, is this really happening here, at our Moose Lodge in West Bend?" said Jeff Kaebisch.
He was working in the kitchen at the Moose Lodge, serving some of his regulars, when a boy scout leader came up from the basement and said one of his scouts found a bomb.
"At first I didn't believe it, but he swore he was telling the truth," Kaebisch said.
Then he showed him the "pineapple hand grenade."
"It turned out to be a real one, but we didn't know if it was live or not," Kaebisch said.
The scout found it while sorting through boxes of donations for an upcoming rummage sale. They called 911 and evacuated the lodge, on a night that's a crowd favorite.
"It was our Taco Tuesday," said Vickie Pretsch. "We were all enjoying the tacos and having fun, then that happened, so we got a lot of unexpected excitement, that's for sure. None of us could believe it."
"It just proves anything can happen I guess," Kaebisch said.
Investigators confirm it was a hand grenade from World War II. They're still trying to determine who it belonged too.
