MILWAUKEE — Paloma Taco and Tequila restaurant at 5419 West North Ave has a pretty good concept going here, they just opened up in July.

"It's always been a dream of mine," says owner Pattie Ford. "I owned a bar five years ago and I gave myself a five-year timeline, and it just kinda fell in my lap, honestly. I was asked to open it by the owners of the building - made the best decision to call 460, my design-build team, to design the amazing space."

Patty has been at this a while. She owned her own bar five years ago, so she knows how to run a business, but she is a little worried about what the future holds with the spike in coronavirus in our area.

"I would be lying If said that I wasn't worried about the winter," she says. "It's a small place, I call it my oversize food truck. I put in a to-go window before the pandemic hit, so I must've been reading the future. I also do car-side carry-out, so making it really easy for the customers to keep them safe."

They do a lot of things great here - they infuse their tequila drinks with fresh ingredients, Pattie is working on a dragon fruit tangerine one now that will be ready in a couple of days - and do I need to say that their Tacos are off the hook here.

"The Brussels sprout taco has been a fan favorite. It is flash-fried Brussels sprouts, we toss it in our own secret seasoning, blend, we top it with some Mexican cheese, we make it with Elote Crema super delicious," Pattie says. "The Carne Asada is going on our winter menu. I use a special trim rib-eye, we marinate it in a bunch of deliciousness and we make it to order."
