WAUWATOSA — A student at Wisconsin International Academy is being monitored for possible exposure to coronavirus.

An academy spokesperson said the student recently returned from China and is being kept separate from other students for at least a week out of precaution.

We're told the student was not in the Wuhan Province during his trip home to China. The spokesperson also says there were a "handful" of other students who traveled to China for the Chinese New Year and are being asked to not return for the time being. The school is working with those students and their families to get them their classwork and lessons overseas.

In the latest report from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, seven people have been tested for coronavirus. One came back negative, six others are still pending.

The CDC says the latest number of confirmed cases in the United States remains at five. They are conducting screenings at 20 airports, and are working to inform passengers returning to the United States from China on the signs of the coronavirus.
