A fixture in the K9 unit of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is entering retirement after 7 years of service with his handler.

Sheriff's deputies announced the retirement of K9 Justice on Facebook on Saturday morning. During his career, Justice handled more than 1,000 police calls, ranging from drug detection sniffs to patrol duties, according to the department.

He was an active member of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Enforcement Unit and assisted several law enforcement agencies throughout the state.

"Justice’s dedication to Waukesha County will be missed but never forgotten. We wish you the best as you begin the next chapter of your life relaxing with your family and enjoying life outside of the law enforcement world," the post said.
