Warming rooms being provided for Milwaukee's homeless

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Continuum of Care will provide overnight places to stay warm for anyone needing shelter from the cold.

Warming room locations will open on nights when temps are forecasted to be 20 degrees or below.

The Continuum of Care's emergency shelters, Guest House of Milwaukee and the Salvation Army of Milwaukee will expand overnight capacity in addition to the other following shelters:

Repairers of the Breach
1335 West Vliet Street

  • Walk-ins welcomed between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. for an overnight stay until 7 a.m.

St. Benedict the Moor
924 West State Street
7p.m. to 7 a.m.

  • Capacity for 60 single adults

Milwaukee Rescue Mission's Emergency Shelter
1820 West Wells Street

  • An additional 50 beds will be provided for single adult men

Repairers of the Breach
Monday-Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Salvation Army

  • 1645 North 25th Street, Milwaukee, Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 4129 West Villard Avenue., Milwaukee, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • 2900 West Cold Spring Road., Greenfield, Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission

  • 1820 W. Wells Street
  • Open any day it is colder than 32 degrees
