Warmer temperatures brings mosquito concerns

Battling mosquitoes can be very tough as we head into the summer months but you don't have to let
those bloodsuckers keep you out of your backyard.

When the weather warms up, Dwight and Barb Kellog like to get out in their yard and play with their grandkids and they are determined to not let mosquitoes spoil their fun.

“We had a big problem with mosquitoes because of all the trees and the shrubs in the yard,” said the Kellogs.

Since turning to the Mosquito Squad in Waukesha, the Kellogs have not had any more problems with mosquitoes.

According to Christine Decoste, owner of Mosquito Squad, mosquito eggs can lay dormant for up to 7 seven years.  Decoste said with the right amount of precipitation and temperatures above 50° those eggs will hatch.

When they do hatch, the Mosquito Squad can help bring a solution.

“So we’ll identify the source of the problem then we are going to apply our treatment, we hit all the foliage around the property basically where mosquitoes and ticks harbor and feed during the day,” said Decoste.

Decoste said it's very important to get rid of any standing water around your property and objects that hold water after downpours like children's toys and bird baths.

The Kellogs agree and said the advice and treatment works.
