MILWAUKEE — VISIT Milwaukee Volunteer and Staffing Coordinator Tony Snell has been named chair of the City of Milwaukee Equal Rights Commission (ERC).

Earlier this year, Snell was appointed by Mayor Tom Barrett to serve a second term and was elected vice chair.

The ERC serves as the first point of contact for concerns and complaints of unfair treatment and takes action for protected categories such as race and sexual orientation.

"The ERC’s mission is to promote and protect equality, equity, and human rights, through education, enforcement, and community engagement,” Snell said. “As chair I will not only continue the work we have begun but further enhance our work to ensure that every single Milwaukeean and visitor has the support and opportunities that are necessary to live their best life."
