MADISON -- A campus-wide alert was sent out at the University of Wisconsin-Madison after a group of people attacked a student outside a dorm on campus.
Student video sent to the campus newspaper, The Badger Herald, shows three people punching and kicking a student on the ground.
WKOW-TV reports the attack happened Friday outside Sellery Hall after a dispute outside a bar.
Police the victim and his attackers were basically strangers -- but were all UW-Madison students.
Police say the attackers came forward in response to the video that has gone viral.
The incident is still under investigation by police.
