Victim of Racine fire identified as 55-year-old man

RACINE — The victim of a fire near Coolidge Avenue and Gilson Street on Tuesday morning has been identified as Steven Eschmann, according to the Racine Police Department.

Eschmann, 55, lived at the address of the fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The fire left the house charred and almost unrecognizable.

Fire crews responded to the scene in the 2500 block of Coolidge Avenue at 4:20 Tuesday morning. A dog also was found dead inside the home.
