A Racine teen has died from his injuries after a hit-and-run crash.

Mount Pleasant Police say they have a 71-year-old man from Kenosha in custody for the death.

Police say they found the suspect's vehicle in Kenosha and it led them to him.

Neighbors along a dark stretch of Highway 32 in Mount Pleasant where Teren Cagle, 18, was hit said they never heard the crash but did see police respond.

"I saw lights going by before I went to bed," said Raymond Rorek.

It was around 10:30 p.m. Monday when the teen was found unconscious along the road. Police said he was hit from behind and the driver never stopped leaving Cagle laying in a ditch.

Police have no idea for how long. People who live nearby say the stretch of road has been a problem for speeding.

"Cops are sitting here all the time picking them up," said Rorek.

Neighbors also said Highway 32 is a popular road for cyclists, so they were not surprised Cagle was riding his bike there.

"There is a lot of cycle traffic going north and south bound. To Carthage College to the south and a lot of people coming north heading into town from the subdivision and stuff around here," said Steve Albright.

The suspect is in custody but is not expected to be charged until Wednesday morning. He is awaiting a pending felony hit-and-run charge. We are not naming him at this time since he has not yet formally been charged.
