MILWAUKEE -- Graduation is right around the corner for UWM students, and this year's commencement speaker is a popular one.
Mark Attanasio, chairman and principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, will be the featured speaker at both of UW-Milwaukee’s May 19 commencement ceremonies, according to the school.
Attanasio took over the team in 2005.
Since then, he's brought them within one game of the 2018 World Series, and helped them be named Baseball America's Organization of the Year.
According to the release, Attanasio holds positions on several not-for-profit boards, including Heal the Bay, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Harvard-Westlake School.
He served on the President′s Leadership Council at Brown University for a decade and is currently a member of Major League Baseball's Compensation, Investment, Revenue Sharing, and Labor Policy Committees and Executive Council.
UWM's commencement will also feature Mary Kellner and Marion Broome.
Kellner, a UWM grad, will receive an honorary doctorate of educational psychology.
Broome will receive an honorary doctorate of science.
