As interim head coach, Greg Gard piloted the Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team from a subpar non-conference performance to the brink of their 18th straight NCAA tournament.
A week before that tournament begins, the Badgers have given Gard the keys to the program on a permanent basis.
The Badgers will announce Gard as head coach during a 1:30 p.m. news conference Tuesday. Check back to this story to watch.
Since taking over following the retirement of Bo Ryan, Gard has directed Wisconsin to a 13-6 record, including numerous upsets over top 10-ranked teams.
Ryan said Saturday in a statement to ESPN that he purposely left when he did to give Gard a chance to prove himself and put him in position to permanently become the head coach of the Badgers.
