MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- One of the men who wore a costume depicting President Barack Obama in a noose to a University of Wisconsin football game has apologized.
Lee Johnson tells the Wisconsin State Journal that "there was no racial intent" behind the costume at the Oct. 29 game against Nebraska.
Johnson and another fan wore a costume that involved one wearing masks of Obama and Hillary Clinton with a noose around the neck, and the other wearing a Donald Trump mask and leading the first man around by the noose.
Some people found the display offensive. The university later revised its stadium policy to prohibit nooses and ropes and revoked season tickets for Johnson and the other fan.
Johnson says he exercised "poor judgment" and accepts responsibility for his actions.
