MILWAUKEE — One of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, World War II veteran Lt. Col. George Hardy, flew into Milwaukee on Monday ahead of Oshkosh's EAA AirVenture this week.
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American flying unit in the United States military. The Airmen flew dozen of air missions in WWII, the Korean War and in Vietnam.
Hardy said being a part of the Tuskegee Airmen was one of a few advanced roles he could have in the military.
"I went in when I was 18 years old," Hardy said. "It was quite the experience."
