MILWAUKEE -- Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church will continue standing despite a massive fire that tore down parts of the structure last month.

On May 15 the church, located on 1046 N. 9th St., caught fire and burned down.

According to the news release, some of the parish leaders were allowed to tour the grounds and identify items that were worth salvaging. A great deal of damage was done to the interior of the church, but not enough to require demolition.

Last week, Pierce Engineers visited the facility to inspect the structure of the building. They discovered that no demolition would be needed as the walls remained stable and in satisfactory condition.

Triad Construction, INC will be in charge of stabilizing the walls and putting a new roof on the church so that the interior can begin to be fixed.
