Top 10 safest cities in Wisconsin, according to National Council For Home Safety and Security

MILWAUKEE -- The National Council for Home Safety and Security has released its annual list of the safest cities in Wisconsin.

The results are based on violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people. 

In the Badger State, Hobart-Lawrence was listed as the safest city with a population of 13,793 and a total of two reported violent crimes.

Waunakee, population 13,556, was rated second with only 12 violent crimes and 74 property crimes.

Oregon takes third place with 17 violent crimes.

In southeast Wisconsin, Cedarburg was ranked fourth place with the city's  only has two violent crimes and 81 property crimes.

Other cities to make the top 10 this year include:

5) Muskego

6) Mequon

7) Kaukauna

8) Fox Valley Metro

9) Oconomowoc

10) Port Washington

The council reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report Statistics to identify these cities, along with its own population data and internal research. Cities with populations under 10,000 were not included.
