Three die in Town of Waukesha fire

Three people died during a residential fire Tuesday morning in the Town of Waukesha, the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The victims are believed to be one adult and two adolescents, but their identities have not been confirmed.

During the initial response, an 80-year-old female was evacuated from the residence and transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

A 9-year-old male also was evacuated from the residence and transported to Children's Hospital, according to the news release.

A deputy was treated and released from the hospital after sustaining first-degree burns.

A neighbor reported a fire at a residence near Arcadian Avenue and Sultan Street just after 3 a.m., according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

Traffic was restricted on Wisconsin 59 between North Springdale Road and State Highway 164, but the roads now are open.

The initial cause of the fire is still unknown.
