A Hartford family hit by a runaway driver this weekend near Fiserv Forum is thankful that Milwaukee Police have arrested two people for the crime.
The Eager family was set to attend Jurassic World at Fiserv Forum Saturday evening, but on their way, a vehicle crashed into them at 6th and Juneau.
“He drove off with me on the hood of the car” says Danielle Eager.
All four of them were injured but five-year-old Dayton was unconscious and being tended to by Good Samaritans. Danielle says "I had crawled probably 15 to 20 feet over to him to see what was going on and I honestly thought he was dead."
Tony Eager was focused on getting as much information about the runaway driver as he could.
"The first thing I could think of was get the plate get the plate… I just kept yelling out KCV KCV KCV," says Tony.
It's possible that partial plate helped authorities catch up with the suspects today. Milwaukee Police say two 21-year-old's were arrested in connection to the crime, a day after they found the abandoned rental car used in the hit and run.
"They have no respect for human life at all, they don’t care. For them to drive off and see they hit a child in the road and drive off," says Danielle.
While an arrest helps them breathe a bit easier they say they won’t be at peace until someone is charged and convicted.
"Justice, absolutely justice," says Tony.
"I want to see them rot, because they almost took my whole family away I have no sympathy for them, none, I don't care if they rot in jail for the rest of their lives," says Danielle.
Police have not released the names of the suspects, it is likely they will be charged later this week. In the meantime the family is at home recovering from their injuries. Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills.
