MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee's The Rave was mentioned in a recent Rolling Stone articleafter an artist wrote a song about the abandoned swimming pool in the basement of the venue.
Laura Jane Grace recently released the music video for her song "The Swimming Pool Song." The video wasn't like anything else, however.
Grace turned her song into a slasher film "for the COVID-19 era," as the Rolling Stone put it.
The song, however, is the reason the Rave was even mentioned since she wrote it about the abandoned pool in the basement of the Rave.
Grace told the Rolling Stone that the pool is the spookiest place ever and said that while she was there, she was "thinking about those things and thinking how things are ever-changing. So, like, right now it might seem like the world’s ending and all this has come down, but it’s just … not over yet. There’s still more to it. And you just have to hold onto that hope."
Grace specifically mentioned Mac Miller's signature in the pool that reads "I once lived and now I am dead. My soul remains here. Enjoy. P.S. I sold this place out three times."
She said the venue was one of the last places Miller performed at before he died.
