Jason Tilley, 37, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of a landlord in Cudahy. Greenfield police found the landlord's body in the garage of the building around 6:45 a.m. on March 2.
The wife of the landlord reported her husband missing on March 1. She and their daughter told police they believe he was going to meet with one of his tenants named Jason at his apartment complex on South Packard Avenue in Cudahy around 3 p.m.
A Greenfield police officer checked Tilley's apartment unit, but he was not home. He found blood on Tilley's door and door frame, however. The officer also states a witness saw Tilley talking to the victim outside the garage of the building around 3:30 p.m.
An autopsy revealed the landlord died from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Tilley admitted to police that he shot the victim after allegedly arguing about rent.
After shooting the landlord, the 37-year-old says he went to Walmart to buy new clothes, went drinking that night and went to work the next day.
Tilley is also being charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. If convicted he faces life in prison.
