Teenage victim struggles with recovery weeks after crash

MILWAUKEE — A 16-year-old girl remains in the intensive care unit at a local hospital after being hit by a car last month.

Malu-Lani Savage was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near 95th and Brown Deer Road while heading to a gas station on October 26.

“I don’t know if my daughter is going to live. It’s day to day right now. I’m praying that she lives. But she may not live,“ said Domenique Savage. “I have to live with that,” she said.

Since the crash, Malu-Lani has endured several strokes, suffered brain damage, and broken bones. Investigators say that the cooperative driver hasn't been issued any citations.

“We’re not going to sweep this under the rug, I’m going to keep fighting for my daughter,” said Savage.

Domenique said she still wants to know what exactly happened to her daughter and the circumstances surrounding the accident. In the meantime, she is still working and trying to maintain financially.
