Three suspects tried to rob a Shorewood bank by slipping a note under the locked door in the vestibule Tuesday.

The attempted robbery took place at the PNC Bank on Oakland Avenue in Shorewood.

The would-be thieves slipped the note under the door, but instead of giving them money, bank employees refused to let them in. So the suspects left before they could even enter the building.

“Upon employees seeing the note they did not let them into the bank,” said Shorewood Chief of Police Peter Nimmer.

Bank employees then immediately called police, who captured the suspects after a chase on Capitol Drive in Milwaukee not far from the bank.

The three suspects are in custody. Two are from Milwaukee and one is from Mississippi.
