Two people killed in Jefferson County incident identified

SUMNER — The two people killed in a Jefferson County incident on June 16 have been identified.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and the Office of the State Fire Marshal said they are investigating the deaths of two people found in a driveway of a Sumner home that was also on fire.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a home in Sumner on Tuesday evening for a possible burglary. When a deputy arrived on the scene, two people were found laying on in the driveway. Shots were fired from the home and shots were returned by deputies. Black smoke was seen to be coming from inside the home.

The two people in the driveway were later determined to be dead. They were identified as James and Nedra Lemke. Gunshot wounds were determined to be the cause of death.

Police are searching for 68-year-old Kevin P. Anderson who may have been connected to this incident. Police are asking that if you see Anderson, you do not approach him. If you have information on his whereabouts or the incident, call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 920-674-7310.
