Suspect arrested in May I-43 shooting

MILWAUKEE — A suspect has been arrested for shooting at a vehicle on I-43 back in May.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office a man is arrested for three felonies following a shooting on I-43 on May 21.

He is facing the following charges:

  • Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle or Building, a Class F Felony
  • First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, a Class F Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, a Class G Felony

According to police, the suspect entered the freeway at southbound I-43 and National Ave and nearly hit another vehicle. He pulled up alongside another vehicle and fired multiple shots. The victim then sped away and exited the freeway at West Holt Ave. He headed towards district two and called 911. The suspect followed the victim off the freeway but turned onto West Holt Ave.

A multi-agency investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of Martinez. The victim was not injured.

This investigation is ongoing.
