More than a dozen Arbor Vitale trees were stolen from a Brookfield business last week and now the search is on for what may be a high class crook.
Surveillance video shows the crooks pulling up and turning the security cameras away from what they were about to do. Danette Janik, the owner of the business where the cameras were installed Lee’s Ice Cream said she thinks some thought went into this heist.
“They had to definitely plan this, for sure” she said.
She turned over that video to police and they sent it to the local media.
In the video, it appears the thief is driving a sporty SUV, and the Brookfield Police Department described it as an Audi or Porsche. Gerald Zimmermann of the International Porsche dealership in Waukesha confirmed it was a Porsche.
“I'd say that is approximately a 2008 Cayenne” Zimmermann said.
The vehicle likely sold for $60,000 or $70,000 when new.
The owner of the business where the trees were planted put in a couple dozen of them last year, spending thousands of dollars according to Janik.
Brookfield Police weren’t available for interviews Monday, but are still looking for the criminals involved. The trees are likely worth between $500 and $1,000.
