MIDDLETON — After having to cancel last year's festivities due to safety concerns, Sunflower Days will return this summer.

The festival will take place at Pope Farm Conservancy in Middleton. This is one of the town's most popular events.

Sunflower Days will begin July 26 and run through Aug. 4.

“The Town Board thanks the Friends for their effort to delight our residents and many neighbors each year with the glorious sunflowers,” Cynthia Richson, town board chair, said in a news release.

“It’s time we take the burden from the Friends and work with event experts who will ensure public safety and the protection of this treasured asset of the town.”

One of the safety issues last summer was people walking from the surrounding parking lots to the event. This year, the event plans to have a free shuttle.

The sunflowers will be planted shortly, and the 9.5-acre farm will have yellow as far as the eye can see.
