A Slinger police officer was injured late Wednesday after he was hit head-on by another vehicle.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the officer was parked in the emergency lane on Highway 41 around a half mile south of Highway 60 in Slinger when a 56-year-old Horicon woman driving in the northbound lanes slid off the roadway and struck his police cruiser.

The vehicle then drifted in the southbound lanes after hitting the police cruiser and was struck by another vehicle, which rolled on its side.

The officer and the woman were treated for minor injuries.

The highway was shut down for several hours while authorities investigated the scene.
