Oak Creek police said four people are in custody after a theft and gunfire at the Meijer grocery store near Howell and Drexel.
Officers were at the Meijer after a report of a theft. The suspect saw officers as they left the store, and ran away but was captured and arrested.
"Officers then heard the shots fired," said Oak Creek Chief Steve Anderson. "Their guns were out but they did not discharge their weapons."
As they were arresting the theft suspect, authorities heard gunshots in the parking lot. The shooting suspect was reportedly firing from the parking lot towards Howell Avenue.
Police took that suspect into custody, as well as two others wanted for questioning.
Two of the four were hospitalized. No officers were injured.
Police had a back section of the parking lot taped off as the search for evidence.
A witness told TODAY’S TMJ4 he saw a man draw a gun and fire at least five shots in the direction of the parking lot.
"I saw the guy over there kind of wandering around over here. And then all of a sudden I am walking and a cop started running. And I looked and there was the guy over there and all of a sudden I hear, 'Pop, pop, pop'," said Sam Holguin.
"All of a sudden a police officer started coming and saying, 'Drop your weapon, drop your weapon.'" Holguin also said.
