MILWAUKEE -- Just after midnight on Tuesday, an 18-year-old woman was arrested on I-43 northbound near W. Walnut Street for drunk driving.
The woman was going 71 mph in a 50 mph zone, but when a deputy attempted to stop her, the 18-year-old took off at speeds over 100 mph.
She tried to get off at W. Capitol Drive and hit a curb, damaging the wheel and axle of the car. Once the car stopped, the woman bailed out and began running.
A half-empty bottle of vodka was also found on the front passenger floor of the vehicle.
Deputies caught the woman and arrested her for OWI, which if convicted will be her second offense.
She also faces felony charges of vehicle operator flee/elude an officer, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, and resisting/obstructing an officer-causing soft tissue injury.
In addition, she will also receive a misdemeanor charge of operating after revocation-OWI-related, citations for speeding, and refuse to submit to intox/blood.
If convicted on all charges, she faces up to 20 years and 9 months in prison.
