SHEBOYGAN, Wis — Sheboygan Police say a 32-year-old man remains hospitalized after officers shot him on Friday, May 31st while responding to a report of a fight.

According to the Sheboygan Police Department, at 5:09 p.m. they arrived at an apartment complex near 14th and Michigan and found a 48-year-old man with a stab wound. He was transported to the hospital and has since been released.

Police say a 32-year-old refused to exit the apartment, leading to a nearly 2-hour standoff. During negotiations, police say the man appeared outside the apartment with a knife and charged at officers.

Officers report using less lethal means to subdue the man. One officer fired their gun, hitting the man. He was taken by Flight for Life to a Milwaukee-area hospital. No one else was injured.

The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
