Cooler weather dampens weekend plans

MILWAUKEE — The calendar may say it is June 16, but it certainly did not look or feel like it starting late Saturday.

The same weekend Milwaukee County pools were scheduled to open no one was exactly poolside Sunday.

"Everybody got on coats, long sleeves, young one got on a hat," Megan Harris said as she described her family putting layering up for Father's Day.

Even bundled up, Harris said her kids have been itching to jump into a pool, but it may be a little while before that happens.

At Polish Fest weather could not keep people away from the music and food.

"I bundled up and was lucky to have gloves in my jacket," said Cindy Andrzejewski, who made the trip from Illinois.

"At least it's not raining so we could be here," said Madeleine Jacobs from Mequon.

For Jacobs, the chilly day did not dampen her sunny outlook.

"I think it's ideal to be at a fest with this kind of weather I don't like being hot. I'll still have a cold beer and I'll enjoy the Polish food," said Jacobs.
