KENOSHA COUNTY — Retail companies are ramping up on their seasonal hiring for the upcoming holidays.

Wisconsin-based Kohl's announced they are looking to hire 90,000 seasonal employees across the nation and more than 1,600 employees in the Milwaukee area. Amazon announced they are looking to employ 30,000 new associates in the upcoming months.

Mars Cheese Castle said the mid-November to Christmas stretch is their busiest time for the holiday season. Many are looking to ship wine and cheese baskets for the holidays. It's during that time when they are looking to hire additional sales associates as well.

"A lot of our customers like to ship cheese and give packages all throughout the US to family and friends, so our business does increase during the holiday season," said Co-manager Michael Ventura.

Ventura said they are willing to hire employees with no experience and will work on training them.

"We are experts at taking people in who don’t know anything about cheese and within no time at all, we will have them talking like experts," he said.

In Kenosha County, there are currently 759 job openings. Jennifer Ditscheit with the Workforce Development said employers typically start to hire their seasonal employees in October.

"It all depends on what the market looks like," said Ditscheit.

Kohl's will host its first-ever seasonal hiring day at all Kohl's stores and e-fulfillment centers on Oct. 5, including stores located in the Milwaukee area. Kohls aims to hire 5,000 seasonal associates nationwide in one day.
