The fast-food chain Checkers Drive-In wants to open additional 20 Milwaukee area locations, according to our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal.
As of right now, there are just three Milwaukee locations, and four in the entire state of Wisconsin.
Franchise development director Bruce Kim told the Business Journal the company sees room for growth in the next five years.
“It’s just a matter of finding the right franchisee,” he said. “We’re very careful and strategic, so we’re not trying to rush into it. We want to do it right.”
Checkers Drive-Ins are open for lunch and dinner, and stay open late. Kim said the chain is looking for spots with a lot of nighttime activity near bars.
The new restaurants could pop up as far south as Racine, west to Waukesha and north to Port Washington.
Milwaukee is one of several cities targeted in the chain’s explosion efforts. The company is also looking at adding locations in Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Detroit, Cleveland, New York City and Houston.
