Racine County's Pritchard Park is officially home to the brand new SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center, which opens to the public this Saturday.
Ahead of the official opening, SC Johnson hosted a soft opening with Racine community leaders, 21st Century Preparatory School Fourth Graders, and US Olympic Medalist Cullen Jones.
SC Johnson donated $6.5 million to build the water park as a destination for Racine residents and visitors, says SC Johnson Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson.
"Believe it or not, the Racine community area is the only area in our county that doesn't have a water park," said Johnson.
The center will be run by the Racine Family YMCA, says President Jeff Collen. He notes there are two swimming pools, one is a lap pool and the other an activity pool, equaling almost 15,000 total square feet of water surface.
Some pool features are water slides, a water playground, and a zero-depth pool.
On top of all of that, there are swim lessons says Collen.
"This first two weeks, the Safety Around Water Program that we're doing, it's a dollar for 8 lessons," said Collen.
Rates for SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center will vary based on your residents. A day pass for Racine County residents is $2 for ages 17 and younger, $10 for 18 and older, and $15 for a Family Pass.
