Racine, Kenosha law enforcement up reward for suspect in Racine officer's death to $48,500

The reward is now up from $20,000 to $48,500 for information that leads to the capture of the suspect involved in the murder of Racine Officer John Hetland. Racine's Andis Company contributes an additional $15,000, Culver's adds $5,000, Hiawatha Bar adds $2,000, and $6,500 from Racine crime stoppers.

The community has come out to support the fallen officer by creating a memorial including a drawing from a little girl to her father, cards of sympathy and flowers.

Officer Hetland was shot and killed while intervening in an armed robbery at Teezers Tavern in Racine Monday night.

The suspect involved is described as 5 ft. 8 in tall and was seen wearing a black mask and black sweatpants at the time of the incident.

The department has already received over 100 tips in this case.
