Police are still tying up loose ends from a short pursuit that ended without an arrest more than a week ago.
Days later, Dodge County Sheriff's deputies found the suspect in an unlikely place — a country club cooler.
A neighbor reported an abandoned vehicle March 30, and authorities tried to contact the vehicle owner without success.
Loved ones of the suspect began expressing concerns to police, which led to an expanded search. During the search, police spotted a broken window at the former Windwood of Watertown club, east of the abandoned vehicle. The country club ceased operations in late 2018.
Deputies found the 41-year-old Watertown man sleeping in a cooler while they were searching the clubhouse.
Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt says charges will be requested in the coming days.
