MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee woman is now a multimillionaire after winning a $156.2 million Powerball prize from the Wisconsin Lottery.
Mai Xiong was the lucky winner from the drawing on Wednesday, March 22. Her winning ticket was purchased from Pewaukee Corner Pump at 1194 W. Capitol Dr. in Pewaukee. The gas station will receive a $100,000 incentive for selling the winning ticket.
The Wisconsin Lottery says Xiong took the cash option, meaning she will be paid a sum of $93.1 million after taxes. Her winning ticket matched all six numbers: 2, 9, 27, 29, and 42, with a Powerball of 9.
Xiong's jackpot is the second-largest prize ever awarded to a Wisconsin winner. The largest was a $208.8 million prize awarded to a group of 100 individuals called the 'Miracle 100.' They bought their ticket in Fond du Lac in 2006.
Wisconsin's last Powerball winner was Doug Miron of Marinette, who won $31.4 million in 2009.
