MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are still looking for the person who hit three kids, killing one of them Thursday evening.
A six-year-old girl is dead and two other little ones severely injured. The hit-and-run crash happened near 22nd and Center right outside of where Treborah Williams works.
“I just heard people screaming and crying they [were] like ‘O, it’s babies in the street, they laying out there.’ Now, that freaked me out. I just lost it,” Treborah Williams said.
MPD said two young girls and a 10-year-old boy had just left a playground to go home, and that's when they were tragically struck head-on by a reckless driver.
“When our security guard went out there she [saw] the little baby just lifeless. The baby was dead right then and there, and it just freaked me out. That was just really sad,” Williams recounted.
The multiple-vehicle crash killed the six-year-old girl, and her four-year-old-sister and a 10-year-old boy were seriously hurt and rushed to the hospital.
“[Reckless driving] happens all the time. In this particular street there, up and down up and down. They use this street for a race track,” Ivory Mallory, a neighbor, said.
Ivory Mallory has lived in a neighborhood near 22nd and Center for 52 years. He said he wants police to find the person who did this because the children and their families deserve justice.
Milwaukee police are still searching for the driver and the car involved in the crash.
The car is described as a 2007 to 2009 grey Saturn. The car has front end damage and dark tinted windows.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
